She gets defensive very quickly if she senses any threat to herself or her friends, and isn't afraid to resort to fighting, verbal or physical (though usually the former), which has got her into trouble on numerous occasions.

But, on her 11th birthday, she received her letter from Hogwarts, and got so excited she accidentally set the rug on fire.
